Red Bull driver Alexander Albon put his hefty in second practice for the Mexican Grand Prix down to a “careless mistake” that forced him to sit out the majority of the session on Friday afternoon.Albon ed out at Turn 7 after touching the kerb on the right-hand side of the circuit upon turning in to the corner, sending his car into a spin before slamming into the wall. While Albon was able to walk away from the shunt unharmed, his car was left with significant damage to the rear and front-right sections that will require repairing overnight.“I’ll have a look at it because it did go really quick, I wasn’t expecting it to go like that,” Albon said of the after the session.“Just a bit of a careless mistake, I used a bit too much track. These things go quickly. I did snap it, it went really quick.“We missed a good chunk of long-running data as well, so it won’t be easy. I think we’ll have to change the run plan for tomorrow in FP3, and then try and find a good solution for qualifying.”Albon had finished fourth-fastest in opening practice on Friday prior to finishing at the foot of the timesheets in FP2, giving him a glimmer of confidence in the Red Bull RB15 car as the team chases a third straight win in Mexico.“I think the car’s good. I think it shows what the car was like the last two years,” Albon said.“Just got to rebuild the rhythm a little bit for tomorrow and then fight for the qualifying.”
