Alfa Romeo has confirmed it has officially appealed the post-race time penalties which denied the team a double points finish at Formula 1’s German Grand Prix.Kimi Raikkonen headed teammate Antonio Giovinazzi in seventh place at Hockenheim but both drivers had 30 seconds added to their finishing positions as punishment for clutch-related setting infringements before the race. The time penalties dropped both Raikkonen and Giovinazzi out of the points and the Swiss squad immediately said it would challenge the decision, before formally announcing it had lodged an appeal on Thursday ahead of this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.Lewis Hamilton profited from the penalty to enhance his championship lead over Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, while Robert Kubica was promoted up to 10th to score his and Williams’ first points of the season.Alfa Romeo Racing lodged an appeal against the decision No. 56 and 57 of the Stewards of the 2019 German Grand Prix. #GermanGP OJ7V6TznzB— Alfa Romeo Racing (@alfaromeoracing) August 1, 2019
