Arenas in Intensive Care after spleen injury

Sama Qatar Angel Nieto rider Albert Arenas will miss this weekend’s Moto3 Grand Prix of Argentina due to a cycling accident.

The team reports that Arenas is currently in Intensive Care after suffering a trauma to the lower right-side of his chest, leaving him with the following injuries:

– laceration of spleen with active bleeding.

– fracture of the sixth right costal arch.

– various bruises and abrasions.

‘On Monday night Arenas underwent a procedure overseen by Dr Muxart that involved the embolisation of the bleeding vessels in order to avoid the necessitation of a spleen removal,’ read a team statement.
