Andrea Dovizioso says his full memory came back shortly after his heavy at the British MotoGP but he had to be reminded about what triggered his first-corner fall which left him angry at the result. The Ducati rider was unluckily taken out by Fabio Quartararo’s Petronas Yamaha YZR-M1 after the French rider highsided off on the exit of the first corner which saw his bike collide with the Italian.Dovizioso required assistance from medical marshals to get off the track and was admitted to hospital with concussion and a head injury but was discharged on the same day to allow him to recover at home.Having confirmed he’s fully fit for this weekend’s San Marino round, a race he won 12 months ago, Dovizioso has opened up on his reported memory loss immediately after his Silverstone and admits he briefly forgot what caused his off.“I remember everything, it came back after 40 minutes,” Dovizioso said. “At the beginning I was normal and after I forgot the way I ed. When I went to Tardozzi [Ducati team manager] he explained it to me again I realised it wasn’t my fault so I became so angry.“After that it was normal and all was good. Rins lost the rear and I think Quartararo was a bit scared.“Everyone used the hard rear on the right, which wasn’t ready, as everybody put in a new tyre on the grid so everybody did just one lap and I feel the tyre wasn’t 100% ready and on the first corner if you are very aggressive you can lose the rear and Quartararo closed the throttle and had a highside but I was too close so I couldn’t do anything.”Looking to bounce back from his second DNF triggered by another rider’s fall, having suffered the same fate when Jorge Lorenzo ed during the Catalan MotoGP in June, Dovizioso was pleased he could take part in the two-day Misano test the week after his Silverstone fall in order to regain his bike sharpness.“I feel good fortunately as we worked really hard after the race and I was able to test which was very important, to make the test here before the race, the feeling wasn’t perfect at the test but it was important to make some laps,” Dovizioso said.“I feel good and I am happy, I feel 100%, I did some motocross training to be sure if everything worked well. I am ready as this is an important weekend for us as last year we did a special race but I expect a different weekend to last year because the competitors are very strong.“In the test a lot of riders had a really good pace but the race weekend is always different and conditions might be different so we have to see the grip we can find because at the test it was different than last year so we will see if it will be the same as the test or different as that will affect every bike.””4
