F2 runner-up Callum Ilott named Ferrari F1 test driver for 2021

By signing up to the newsletter you agree to receive emails from that may occasionally include promotional content Leave this field blank Formula 2 runner-up Callum Ilott will act as Ferrari’s Formula 1 test driver during the 2021 season.The 22-year-old Briton was beaten to the F2 championship title this year by Mick Schumacher by just 14 points, but unlike the German who has sealed a drive with Haas next season, Ilott missed out on a graduation to F1.Ilott had been linked to seats at Haas and Alfa Romeo but ultimately was overlooked as he confirmed that he would not be returning to F2 for a third season in the series. He has subsequently been named as Ferrari’s official test driver for 2021.”I am very pleased to be joining Scuderia Ferrari as its test driver from next year,” said Ilott.”I look forward to contributing to the work the team does on and off track, and to all of the new things I can learn by taking on this exciting new challenge. I will give my all to do a good job and gain as much experience as possible to continue making progress as a driver.”I would like to thank the Ferrari Driver Academy and Scuderia Ferrari for this great opportunity and their support.
