Lewis Hamilton is under investigation following an incident involving Max Verstappen during second practice for Formula 1’s French Grand Prix. The reigning world champion lost control of his Mercedes at Turn 4 and took out a bollard in a sideways moment, before he rejoined the circuit in front of Red Bull’s Verstappen, who had been on a flying lap.Verstappen was unable to take the ideal line through the next corner and ultimately ran wide, as Hamilton immediately slowed and waved an apologetic hand towards the Dutchman.Hamilton has been summoned to see the stewards following FP2 as a result. It comes just two weeks after Sebastian Vettel was handed a controversial time penalty for rejoining the track in an unsafe manner ahead of Hamilton at the Canadian Grand Prix.Vettel crossed the line in first place but a five-second time penalty dropped him to second, instead handing victory to Hamilton.Ferrari met with the Montreal stewards on Friday ahead of second practice to argue its case for why the incident should be re-examined, with the FIA yet to announce an outcome.
