Hamilton “on another level” heading into 2020 F1 season

Lewis Hamilton has warned his Formula 1 rivals that he is “on another level” heading into the 2020 season.Hamilton has a host of Michael Schumacher’s records in his sights in 2020, including the German’s all-time feat of seven drivers’ world titles, having claimed his third consecutive championship and sixth overall last year.Speaking on his first day back at Mercedes’ Brackley headquarters ahead of the new campaign, the 35-year-old Briton spoke about his “incredible” winter break and revealed a different training regime has left him feeling mentally and physically sharper.“It’s been an incredible winter,” Hamilton said in a video posted on Mercedes’ Instagram.“I’ve had a lot of time with family and friends and I would say one of the best times has been with my dad.“Secondly, the training has just been different this year, so the feeling I have physically and mentally its on another level compared to last year. So that’s a real positive.”Hamilton was quick to play down aspirations of potentially joining Schumacher on seven titles, explaining that Mercedes still has work to do and has “no idea” where it stands compared to its rivals.“I miss your guys support. I know that you are there and I hope that wherever you are that 2020 has started off well for you,” he added.“I know that you guys are all gunning for number seven but I think we’ve just got to take it one step at a time. We have no idea where we are going to stand compared to everybody else.“So we just need to be more efficient this year in our test programme, particularly as we have less time. We still have a lot of work to do.”Mercedes revealed its 2020 livery on Monday and will officially launch its W11 challenger on Friday, a car it hopes will maintain its unbeaten run in the V6 hybrid era.
