Following the confirmation of his Renault exit, all eyes have been on Nico Hulkenberg’s future which the German driver says will be confirmed later this month as he remains tight-lipped on his options. After Renault announced Esteban Ocon would replace Hulkenberg as part of its Formula 1 driver line-up next season, the German driver also missed out on a potential Haas switch as the US team opted to retain Romain Grosjean alongside Kevin Magnussen for 2020.The 32-year-old has since been linked with a return to Williams, where he made his F1 debut back in 2010, with the British team looking like his only realistic option in order to stay on the grid for next season.Hulkenberg has also been of interest to a number of Formula E teams and while he dismissed reports connecting him to Mahindra he remains confident his future will be confirmed within a couple of weeks.“We’ll see. I don’t know yet. But hopefully in a couple of weeks’ time we’ll have clearance about that [my future]. But as of now it’s not decided, not confirmed,” Hulkenberg said.“I heard that there were people coming, or wanting to talk, via friends and stuff, of people we know in common. But I haven’t pursued that [Formula E] yet.“Ideally it would all be done now and we move on, but it’s not done yet. I think it’s a matter of another few weeks.“I don’t think it will take that much longer to be honest, so obviously the sooner the better, it’s good for everyone to have clarity but as of now it’s nothing yet.”Hulkenberg has also held strong ties to Porsche following his part in its 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours victory co-driving with Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber. The German driver had been linked to the team’s Formula E driver line-up, ahead of the factory’s maiden campaign in the all-electric series, before it was confirmed Andre Lotterer and Neel Jani would partner up for the 2019-2020 season with Simona de Silvestro and Thomas Preining named as test and development drivers.
