Ferrari Formula 1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel have been cleared by the FIA stewards following their collision during the Brazilian Grand Prix.The incident took place with five laps to go at Interlagos as the pair squabbled over fourth place. Leclerc caught Vettel napping into Turn 1 with a late dive, before the German attempted to fight back along the drag to Turn 4.Vettel drew alongside Leclerc and appeared to jink left as the duo made contact, sending both into retirement with damage to their cars.The impact broke Leclerc’s front right wheel, while Vettel picked up a right-rear puncture. Both drivers were left angered by the clash, with each initially blaming each other.The Brazilian Grand Prix stewards ultimately decided to investigate the incident, calling both drivers before them to speak about the .The FIA issued a bulletin following the briefing to confirm that no action had been taken, with the stewards deeming neither driver was “predominantly to blame”.Giving his view, Leclerc said he felt Vettel had “tried to squeeze” him on the back straight, though Vettel – who had a furious outburst over team radio in the immediate aftermath – refused to get into who was to blame when he spoke to the media later.Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto felt it was too early to “judge” the incident but stressed both his drivers must each take some responsibility for the that resulted in Ferrari failing to score a single point in a grand prix for the first time this season.Both Leclerc and Vettel have now fallen behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the battle to secure third place in the championship after the Dutchman converted pole into victory in Sao Paulo.
