Iker Lecuona has undergone a successful surgery to his right arm for chronic exertional compartment syndrome as part of his preparations for his rookie MotoGP campaign with Red Bull KTM Tech3.The Spanish rider, who turned 20 yesterday (January 6), made his MotoGP debut at the 2019 final round at Valencia’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo for Tech3 as an early step up to the premier class as he filled in for 2020 team-mate Miguel Oliveira who was out of action after undergoing shoulder surgery.The youngster had been suffering with chronic exertional compartment syndrome, an injury associated with young athletes participating in repetitive impact sports, which has symptoms similar to arm pump.Often treated without the need for surgery, Lecuona has had a successful operation to fix the condition in his right arm in order to be fully fit for the 2020 MotoGP season.Tech3 tweeted the surgery has been completed and Lecuona should be fit to take part in the opening pre-season tests at Sepang which begin at the start of February.Lecuona is eligible to take part in both the Sepang shakedown test (February 2-4) and official test (February 7-9) due to rookie and concession rules but his full programme at the Malaysian track is yet to be formalised.Today @LecuonaIker had surgery on his right arm to fix the chronic exertional compartment syndrome in order to be well prepared for his first full year in @MotoGP.
