Jorge Lorenzo has become the second rider to withdraw from the Misano MotoGP test early as he opts for more time to recover ahead of the next race following his recent back injury.The Repsol Honda rider made his comeback at Silverstone last weekend after two months out with fractured vertebrae sustained in a during practice at Assen but struggled with his injury at the British round, lapping over three second off the pace, before gritting his way through the race to finish in 14th place.Having hoped to use the Misano test to regain his MotoGP bike sharpness and fitness, Lorenzo completed 31 laps this morning before his team confirmed he would sit out the remainder of the test “to allow his body to recover further and to be as fit as possible for round 13 after feeling some pain”.Misano hosts the next race, the San Marino MotoGP, on September 13-15.Lorenzo becomes the second rider to step away from the test following Miguel Oliveira’s earlier withdrawal due to pain from an injured tendon in his right shoulder suffered in his collision with Johann Zarco during the British MotoGP last week.Andrea Dovizioso missed the morning session on the opening day for Ducati, having suffered concussion in his with Fabio Quartararo’s stricken Petronas Yamaha bike at Silverstone on Sunday, and completed his first laps of the test an hour into the afternoon session.The Misano MotoGP concludes tomorrow (August 30) before a two-week break until the next race.
