Marc Marquez has claimed the 2019 MotoGP world championship title to move on to six premier class crowns and surpass Mick Doohan in the all-time list. The Repsol Honda rider has produced a dominant display across this season collecting nine assuming win in Thai wins plus five runner-up results with the only blot on his record a while leading at the Americas MotoGP.Marquez’s unrelenting consistency and speed at all rounds on the MotoGP calendar sees him clinch the 2019 riders’ crown with four rounds to spare in Thailand, taking victory at the Chang International Circuit after seeing off a race-long battle against Fabio Quartararo at the final corner. The 2019 title triumph sees Marquez continue to ink his name in the MotoGP history book as he moves into outright third place on the all-time list of premier class championships with six – just one behind Valentino Rossi and two behind leader Giacomo Agostini.Marquez has also moved to outright fourth place on the all-time world champions list with eight crowns including his 2010 125cc and 2012 Moto2 successes. The 26-year-old is just one title behind Rossi, Mike Hailwood and Carlo Ubbiali who each have nine world championships across their respective careers.Giacomo Agostini leads on 15 world titles with Angel Nieto in second place on 13 world championships. To further cement Marquez’s achievements, he becomes just the fifth rider in history to record four consecutive premier class world titles following Rossi, Doohan, Agostini and Mike Hailwood.2019 has arguably been Marquez’s most dominant since joining the premier class in 2013, even rivalling his 2014 campaign when he won 13 out of 18 races across the year. With Marquez the sole Honda rider enjoying success this season, with next nearest LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow claiming a single rostrum in 2019, the Spaniard’s riding style and ability to make the RC213V a championship-winning machine at such a dominant rate can also be considered one of the greatest feats of his career to date.
