Mexican GP wins FIA race promoter award for fourth year running

The Mexican Grand Prix has won the FIA’s Best Promoter award for the fourth year in a row after being honoured at the end-of-season prize giving gala.

Mexico returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2015 after a 23-year hiatus with a grand prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, which quickly became a favourite among fans, teams and drivers alike.

The promoters in Mexico City won the FIA’s award for Best Promoter in its first year back in 2015, and followed up this success with wins in 2016 and 2017.

Despite the return of the French Grand Prix to the calendar in 2018, Mexico managed to retain the accolade as its promoters were honoured for the fourth year in a row.

Theh 2018 Mexican Grand Prix offered one of the most exciting races of the year as Max Verstappen marched to a dominant win, while Lewis Hamilton was crowned F1 world champion for a fifth time.
