Jack Miller has offered some sage words of advice to his Pramac Racing team-mate to have more ‘fun on the bike’ and focus less on the engineering side of his ride. The highly-rated Bagnaia stepped up to MotoGP in 2019 after clinching the Moto2 world title the year before but endured a fraught error-prone season on a year-old Pramac Ducati, scoring just a single top ten finish during the first-half of the year. However, his performances improved towards the end of the season, peaking with a run to fourth place at Phillip Island. For 2020, Bagnaia gets use of a factory-supplied Ducati GP20, though the pressure is on to prove himself over what will be a short season with murmurings the manufacturer could consider swapping him with Johann Zarco depending on their results this year. For Miller, who will step up to the factory Ducati team in 2021, he feels Bagnaia has the speed but needs to ‘be free’ when racing.”I don’t think it’s related to the Pramac team or Ducati, I only see that sometimes he is too demanding with himself,” he told Sky Sports Italia. “He has the word ‘go free’ written on his suit, be free, but I don’t see a free person.“I see that he works a lot, he is determined and he is a pilot with a very talented talent, but every day after the session he sits in front of the computer and watches the telemetry for hours.“Mind you, it is important to do it but you are not an engineer, there are already those who do that job, I just think he has to relax, maybe as he once did. I’m sure it wasn’t like that in the past, it was less about data and more about having fun on the bike.”
