The 2019 MotoGP world championship stunned and thrilled with Marc Marquez claiming the world title and leading Repsol Honda’s charge to another Triple Crown. But away from the headlines and non-stop action, this year revealed a great deal about the sport that we didn’t expect while also hinting at what is to look forward to in the future.Marquez may have dominated to the world riders’ crown but he also caught the eye on multiple occasions as he continued to add to his mind-blowing video roll of crazy saves, with a record-breaking moment at Phillip Island during practice ahead of the Australian MotoGP standing out. While the MotoGP champion’s saves have been seen in previous years, nobody anticipated Fabio Quartararo to take the premier class by storm with his six pole positions and seven podiums making him one of Marquez’s closest challengers by the end of the year. The Petronas Yamaha rider is now tipped to be a world title contender in the future meaning he might struggle to pull off such a surprise in the future. From amazing arrivals to shocking departures as Jorge Lorenzo announced his retirement from racing on the eve of the final round in 2019 – which had a crazy knock-on effect in the rider market which is still being felt! But one rider that isn’t retiring just yet is the oldest member of the MotoGP grid with Valentino Rossi preparing for 2020 as he continues his hunt for that elusive 10th world title. What was your favourite moment from 2019 in MotoGP?
