Full Japanese MotoGP FP3 results at MotegiDanilo Petrucci has taken the top spot honour off Marc Marquez with his final lap in the soaking wet FP3 at Motegi ahead of the Japanese MotoGP.After FP3 was delayed by 10 minutes due to the heavy rain with track marshals attempting to clear some of the standing water, Marquez was the fastest starter in the wet conditions ahead of an impressive showing by Suzuki’s wildcard Sylvain Guintoli.While none of the riders were able to challenge for outright lap time improvements compared to Friday’s dry running, meaning the Q2 spots were set from the FP2 results, Jack Miller was restrained by a technical issue with is Pramac Ducati meaning he missed the bulk of the FP3 action.But with Petrucci producing a late 1m 54.710s he beat Marquez’s earlier effort by 0.174s to gain some timely confidence heading into FP4 and qualifying in Japan.Franco Morbidelli was another late improver to take grab place for Petronas Yamaha ahead of factory Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales with Guintoli keeping hold of a top five spot.Andrea Dovizioso kept in touch with the front-runners with sixth place on the factory Ducati in front of Suzuki’s Alex Rins and Friday’s fastest rider Fabio Quartararo on the Petronas Yamaha.KTM pair Pol Espargaro and Miguel Oliveira produced a late surge to break into the top 10 in the wet, ahead of Suzuki’s Joan Mir and Valentino Rossi on the factory Yamaha.With Mika Kallio in 13th place for Red Bull KTM, the Finn edged Aleix Espargaro down a spot for Aprilia as local hero Takaaki Nakagami claimed 15th place for LCR Honda.Karel Abraham followed up his solid dry-weather pace with 16th place for Avintia Ducati beating LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow and Miller on the Pramac Ducati.With Francesco Bagnaia in 19th place on the other Pramac Ducati, Andrea Iannone could only reach 20th place in the wet for Aprilia as Hafizh Syahrin (Tech3 KTM), Jorge Lorenzo (Repsol Honda) and Tito Rabat (Avintia Ducati) completed the times.”4
