Fabio Quartararo hopes clarity can be found on the track limits ruling at Chapel Curve after being repeatedly penalised for exceeding the circuit, only to regain his fastest lap to set a new record at Silverstone. The Petronas Yamaha had six laps cancelled on the official FP2 times for exceeding track limits, while Valentino Rossi and Takaaki Nakagami faced similar incidents, before the French rider was given back his fastest lap on review which saw him set a new lap record and top FP2 with 1m 59.225s.While the MotoGP rookie was delighted to regain his fastest lap he feels a solution needs to be found with race direction ahead of qualifying and the race at Silverstone.“The lap was really good and I am really happy about this lap,” Quartararo said. “Now it feels good to have this lap as I really gave it everything, and also they gave back the lap of Valentino [Rossi] so I am really happy for him also.“For me it was, okay maybe for today it was a normal to cancel my lap, but tomorrow they need to arrange this corner [better] because it is really difficult to ride. I am really happy that finally we are in P1.”Quartararo also feels he has plenty to gain on his new lap record and predicts going under the 1m 59s mark will be possible if track and weather conditions remain ideal for qualifying tomorrow.“Of course, you can always improve and one rider disturbed me in Turn 8 so for me we can improve,” he said. “Qualifying will be under 1m 59s if conditions are really good.”Quartararo topped both Friday practice session at Silverstone for the satellite Yamaha squad, pushing Marc Marquez back to second place at the end of FP2, while all Yamaha riders ended the day inside the top seven to offer a promising British round for the Iwata factory. The French rider could become the first MotoGP rookie race winner since Marquez achieved the feat in his maiden premier class campaign in 2013, while a satellite Yamaha rider has never won a MotoGP race.
