Full Thailand MotoGP FP2 resultsFabio Quartararo has edged out Maverick Vinales to lead the times at the end of Friday practice at the Thailand MotoGP, with Marc Marquez battling back from his FP1 high-side which sent him to hospital. The reigning MotoGP world champion made a stunning return to action, going from the local hospital to back on track FP2 within just two hours, having suffered a heavy high-side off at Turn 7 which destroyed one of his RC213V bikes and gave the 26-year-old serious contusions on his left leg and back. But Marquez showed little sign of discomfort while on track with his first run of the afternoon session totalling eight laps around one second faster than the averages of the majority of his rivals. The Repsol Honda rider’s efforts duly gave him top spot heading into the late time attacks, just as it did in FP1, before opting against taking new soft tyres meaning his best effort was shuffled down the order.Quartararo duly claimed top spot thanks to his 1m 30.404s using new hard front and soft rear tyres with the Petronas Yamaha rider beating factory Yamaha’s Vinales by 0.193s.Franco Morbidelli impressed to take third place on the other Petronas Yamaha, with Jack Miller disrupting the Iwata factory domination in fourth place for Pramac Ducati, seeing Valentino Rossi narrowly miss out on the clean sweep of the top spots in fifth place.Marquez’s personal best of 1m 30.891s still gave him an impressive sixth place overall ahead of Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro.Chief title rival Andrea Dovizioso claimed eighth place for a provisional Q2 spot for the factory Ducati squad. The Italian must avoid seeing Marquez outscore him by two points in Thailand to keep his title attack alive.Suzuki duo Joan Mir and Alex Rins sneaked into the top 10 spots, a timely boost following their qualifying issues this season, which saw Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci just miss out by 0.021s.Francesco Bagnaia claimed 12th place for Pramac Ducati ahead of LCR Honda duo Cal Crutchlow and Takaaki Nakagami.Pol Espargaro continues to lead the Red Bull KTM charge on his comeback from left wrist surgery to push Andrea Iannone in 16th spot for Aprilia but ahead of both Avintia Ducati riders Karel Abraham and Tito Rabat.”4With Miguel Oliveira in 19th place for Tech3 KTM, after suffering his second of the weekend in FP2 at Turn 12, Jorge Lorenzo could only climb to 20th place and 1.545s off the pace for Repsol Honda.Mika Kallio (Red Bull KTM) and Hafizh Syahrin (Tech3 KTM) completed the timesheet in FP2.
