Hafizh Syahrin could join his fellow KTM riders in having access to a carbon fibre swingarm at this weekend’s German MotoGP.Rookie team-mate Miguel Oliveira got the part, first used by the factory team at Le Mans, last weekend at Assen, riding to a 13th place finish.”We are very happy with the rear carbon swingarm we have for Miguel. Hopefully Hafizh could have one as well in Sachsenring to improve the bike,” said Tech3 team manager Herve Poncharal.Syahrin, the only KTM rider without a contract for 2020, scored points for only the second time this season with 15th at Assen. However the Malaysian had been ahead of Oliveira and in 13th for much of the Dutch race, before suffering a drastic loss of grip on the right side of his rear tyre in the closing laps.”After a really strong first half of the race in Assen, I’m looking forward to go straight to Germany now,” Syahrin said. “I know it’s not going to be easy and we will arrive at this special circuit for the first time with the KTM.”We will try to find a good pace from the beginning and set up the electronics accordingly. The track is really short and the race is quite long with 30 laps, which will be tough for everybody.”The carbon-fibre swingarm is not only lighter but is thought to be beneficial for tyre endurance over a race distance, rather than aiding one fast lap.
