The FIA has confirmed that a third DRS zone has been added to the Bahrain International Circuit for this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
Despite the addition of a third DRS zone to a number of circuits through the 2018 season, Bahrain retained just two zones – one on the main straight, and a second between Turns 10 and 11 – but will now expand to three zones for 2019 in a bid to try and increase overtaking opportunities.
The additional zone will be on the straight between Turn 3 and Turn 4 at the start of the lap, with the detection point coming at the end of the main straight, 50 metres before Turn 1.

The detection and activation points for the two zones kept from 2018 remain unchanged.
