Max Verstappen will serve his FIA ‘public service’ punishment for the fracas with Esteban Ocon at the Brazilian Grand Prix by working with the race stewards for Saturday’s Formula E race in Marrakesh.

Verstappen was told he must complete community service for the FIA after physically pushing Ocon after the race at Interlagos in November, the pair having collided on-track during the race.

The FIA did not specify at the time what form Verstappen’s public service would take, but it has emerged the Dutchman will be present in Marrakesh this weekend for the Formula E race to work with the FIA-appointed stewards.

Verstappen’s public service is similar to that completed by Sebastian Vettel in the wake of his clash with Lewis Hamilton in Baku in 2017, when he appeared by video link at an FIA stewarding conference.

All sessions for the second round of the new Formula E season take place on Saturday at the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan in Marrakesh, starting at 8am local time.
