Verwarnung für Charles Leclerc
Wichtige Info: Der Monegasse hat für die Aktion in FT3 lediglich eine Verwarnung bekommen. Keine Gridstrafe also. Hier das Urteil im Wortlaut:
“As the driver of Car 16, Leclerc, passed turn 2 he could see Car 10, Gasly, ahead of him. Approaching turn 3 it was not clear to Leclerc, or the in-car video, where Gasly was relative to the corner. Leclerc passed the marshalling signal board prior to turn 3 and no signal is given.”
“Confirmed by telemetry and video, just past his braking point, Gasly comes clearly into the view of the in-car camera on the right of the runoff at turn 3, and shortly afterwards a single waved yellow flag is shown from an elevated position to the right of the runoff just before Leclerc turns into the corner.”
“Confirmed by telemetry and by the driver in the hearing, at this point he was fully under braking and any further braking would have resulted in an accident. The driver further explained that while he saw movement in his peripheral vision, he was looking to the apex of the corner and did not immediately recognize that it was a yellow flag.”
“In reviewing the video the Stewards consider this to be reasonable. Once past the corner, the green marshalling panel was clearly visible as was a clear track all the way to the following corner. However, the regulations state that the yellow sector extends to the point of the green flag.”
“Telemetry indicates that Leclerc applied the throttle in a similar manner to other fast laps and prior to the green flag and the mini-sector timing indicates that this was his fastest time through that sector up to that point in the session, although increasing grip and decreasing car weights have an influence on this.”
“The Stewards consider that the driver took all reasonable actions throughout the incident, except that given that he was in a yellow zone past the apex, and even though the track was visibly clear and a green was visible shortly after, he should have varied his throttle application out of caution and in order to fully comply with the intent of the regulation to noticeably reduce speed in that sector.”
“As no competitive advantage was gained, and at no time was any action of the driver in any way dangerous, and especially in light of the timing and visibility of the flag, being when the driver was fully under braking, the Stewards consider this as strong mitigation and therefore, in light of this being free-practice order a driving reprimand.” 13:50 Uhr

Wie wichtig ist die Pole?
Wir haben ja schon darüber gesprochen, dass Charles Leclerc (inklusive Sprint) zuletzt viermal in Folge auf Pole in Baku stand. Gewinnen konnte er dabei allerdings nie – und das ist kein Zufall.
Denn seit Baku 2016 in den Formel-1-Kalender rückte, konnte das Rennen lediglich zweimal von der Poleposition aus gewonnen werden. Nico Rosberg gelang es gleich beim Debüt der Strecke, 2019 dann noch einmal Valtteri Bottas.
Bei den letzten drei Hauptrennen kam der Sieger dazu noch nicht einmal aus der ersten Reihe. Sergio Perez (2023) und Max Verstappen (2022) siegten jeweils von P3 aus, 2021 holte Perez den Sieg sogar, nachdem er nur von P6 gestartet war. Villeneuve: “Teurer Fehler” von Bearman
Experte Jacques Villeneuve glaubt, dass Oliver Bearman vor einem schwierigen Qualifying steht. Denn weil der Rookie in FT3 gleich auf seiner ersten schnellen Runde crashte, verpasste er quasi das komplette Abschlusstraining.
“Es ist ein teurer Fehler. Er hat nicht viel Schaden, aber er ist die ganze Session nicht gefahren”, erklärt der Weltmeister von 1997 bei Sky und ergänzt: “Das war eine wichtige Vorbereitung auf das Qualifying.”
“Die Strecke ist anders als gestern, und er weiß jetzt nicht, was auf ihn zukommt”, betont er und ergänzt: “Wenn er es schafft, ins Q2 zu kommen, wird er die Runden haben und es wird passen. Aber der erste Run [in Q1] wird entscheidend sein.” 13:13 Uhr
Darum gibt’s in Baku kein Meteo-France-Wetter
Die Formel-1-Teams arbeiten an diesem Wochenende in Baku aufgrund eines politischen Streits zwischen den Regierungen von Aserbaidschan und Frankreich ohne ihr sonst verwendetes Wetter-Radarsystem von Meteo France.
Da französischen Staatsbürgern, einschließlich Doppelbürgern, in einer Reisewarnung des französischen Außenministeriums letzte Woche davon abgeraten wurde, nach Aserbaidschan zu reisen, sind Vertreter von Meteo France nicht zur Veranstaltung in Baku gereist. Verwarnung für Perez
Derweil haben wir auch das Urteil für die Perez-Sainz-Situation bekommen. Wie erwartet kommt der Mexikaner mit einer Verwarnung davon, weil die Situation nicht “gefährlich” gewesen sei. Hier das kurze Urteil der Rennkommissare im Wortlaut:
“The Stewards reviewed the incident between Car 11, Perez, and Car 55, Sainz. The radio traffic between Perez and his team meant that while the team did warn Perez of the approaching faster traffic, he was late reacting and therefore was in the wrong position for Sainz, who was forced to cut to the inside of Turn 15.”
“The Stewards did not consider the situation to be dangerous, and so issue a warning consistent with the agreed guidelines.” 12:58 Uhr
Untersuchung gegen Charles Leclerc
