Deniz Oncu takes a wet Moto3 pole position for the Portuguese Grand Prix at Portimao from Mario Aji and Lorenzo Fellon.
Scott Ogden was among a whole host of riders to briefly feature on pole in the closing stages, but the Briton then had several laps cancelled on his way to a best-yet eighth.
VisionTrack team-mate and fellow rookie Josh Whatley passed through Qualifying 1 for his first Q2 appearance, but fell early in the session.
Whatley certainly wasn’t alone, with title contender Sergio Garcia falling three times in the space of the 15-minute session.
