Formula 1 championship leader Lewis Hamilton is determined to focus on the positives from a disappointing German Grand Prix as he looks to bounce back at this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.Hamilton described Sunday’s German GP as one of his “worst days in the office in a long time” during a mistake-ridden race that saw him finish ninth, only after post-race penalties promoted him into the points.Despite his worst result since retiring from last year’s Austrian Grand Prix and lowest finishing position since taking ninth at the 2017 Mexican Grand Prix, Hamilton was able to extend his advantage at the top of the drivers’ standings to 41 points after Mercedes teammate and closest challenger Valtteri Bottas ed out.“It’s massively disappointing and upsetting for all of us to be leaving a grand prix and I was eight seconds in the lead at one point and had it all under control,” Hamilton said.“Things are going to be thrown at you the whole time in conditions like this. But I think it was like one domino after another and like snakes and ladders and I kept hitting the snakes.“But the thing is we win and lose together. It just shows you how easy it is to get a weekend wrong and the processes wrong but we stay united and we pull together and we regroup.“The guys will be back in the factory and I’ll have a group conference call with everyone before the next weekend and come back with a fighting spirit for the next one.“We were still doing pretty awesome until the domino effect today so we need to take the positives from this weekend and leave all the negatives out.“It’s only one race, and we keep moving forwards.”
