KTM extends Oliveira contract

KTM has seen enough. After impressing in the opening three rounds of his MotoGP career, the Austrian factory has taken up its option on Miguel Oliveira for the 2020 season.

The Portuguese will continue to be placed at the satellite Tech3 team, with which he has scored points in two rounds so far, including a best-yet eleventh place – in the wheeltracks of factory KTM star Pol Espargaro – in Argentina.

“The option on Miguel expires in the summer, but we have already redeemed it,” KTM’s Pit Beirer told Speedweek.com.

Espargaro and factory KTM team-mate Johann Zarco are also contracted to the end of 2020. 

However, Oliveira’s struggling Tech3 team-mate Hafizh Syahrin is thought to be on a one-year deal with Tech3 (rather than KTM).
