After claiming a debut MotoGP podium then holding a confident race lead during the Austrian MotoGP rounds, Suzuki’s Joan Mir is ‘excited to see what I can do’ at Misano.Check out the MotoGP YouTube channel – CLICK HEREThe Spaniard looked on target for victory until the Styrian race was red-flagged, after which the lack of an available new front tyre for the restart plus the absence of any penalty for Pol Espargaro running wide at the last corner left Mir in fourth place. It was a frustrating outcome, but after two early-season DNFs Mir has now climbed to eighth in the world championship, just five points behind Brad Binder in fourth place, heading into the Italian double header.“I feel fresh from my podium in Austria and the fourth place. In both races I was able to battle with the front group and I had a lot of potential,” Mir said.”I like Misano and I’m excited to see what I can do on the GSX-RR around here.”Last year I got eighth place as a rookie after coming back from injury so I’ll be aiming high and hoping for a good weekend.”The two-weekend break since Austria has allowed team-mate Alex Rins valuable healing time for his injured shoulder and, having challenged for the lead before falling in Austria 1, he feels ready for a ‘strong result’.“I scored solid points last time out at the Red Bull Ring, but I’m ready for more this weekend,” said Rins, who took sixth place in the second Austrian race.”My shoulder is feeling better every day, and even if I’m not at 100% I know I can give a good fight for a strong result. I have some happy memories from Misano over the years and I would like to add a new one to the collection!”“We’ve had a short break but we’re keen to continue the good form we’ve been on in recent weeks,” added team manager Davide Brivio. “Joan has shown some very impressive performances in Austria, and Misano is a circuit he enjoys, so we’re hoping for another good result for him.”Similarly, Alex likes the circuit, and he has also been feeling stronger and stronger after continuing treatment on his shoulder – so he also has confidence. We’re looking forward to getting started on Friday.””4
