After being forced to miss six rounds due to a nasty hand injury at Jerez in May, Khairul Idham Pawi will return to Moto2 action at this weekend’s Czech Grand Prix. The Malaysian, who was replaced at the Petronas Kalex team by Mattia Pasini and then Jonas Folger, had claimed a best finish of 13th place before his injury.“The recovery has gone well, but my finger still isn’t at 100% in terms of flexibility or strength,” said Pawi. “It’s not fully healed, but it’s not a problem to ride with it, and I’m getting stronger every day.”I like the Brno circuit because it’s got lots of fast corners, and I’ve got good memories there in both Moto2 and Moto3, so I’ll try my best for the race.“My target now will be to stay in the top fifteen, because I’ve missed a lot of races so it’s going to be hard to do any better than that now as my rivals have been racing constantly whilst I’ve been off the bike.”The support from the team, my family and my fans has been very important, and it has given me a lot of motivation. I need to say a huge thank you to Doctor Mir and his team as well because they did a great job saving my finger.”Pasini finished in a best of eleventh during his Petronas appearances at Le Mans and Mugello, with Folger 17th at both Assen and Sachsenring. The Sepang team is hoping to acquire a second Moto2 entry for 2020.
