Pedro Acosta becomes the youngest intermediate class grand prix winner with a dominant victory in the Italian Moto2 Grand Prix at Mugello, ahead of Joe Roberts and Ai Ogura.
Aron Canet had been the only rider capable of keeping in touch with Acosta, only to out.
Celestino Vietti staged a strong home comeback from ninth on lap one to third but was forced out by a technical problem in the closing stages and is now tied with Ogura for the title lead.
A collision between Marc VDS team-mates Sam Lowes and Tony Arbolino left the Englishman on the ground and Arbolino with a long lap penalty.
Former home winner Mattia Pasini was competing as a wild-card for the Aspar team.
