Ai Ogura takes his first grand prix victory with a dominant performance in the Spanish Moto2 race at Jerez.

Aron Canet, who underwent surgery earlier this week after fracturing his arm in last Sunday’s rain chaos while leading at Portimao, bravely kept in touch with Ogura until the Japanese pulled clear in the closing stages.

Nonetheless, Canet kept Tony Arbolino at bay to secure second place.

It was a double disaster for British riders Sam Lowes and Jake Dixon, who both ed out, Dixon also taking down Fermin Aldeguer. The incident was put under investigation but no further action taken.
