The end of the title-winning GSX-RR project, which made its debut at the end of 2014, reduced MotoGP to five manufacturers.Marc Marquez to be partnered by Joan MirSuzuki’s decision to quit MotoGP forced 2020 world champion Joan Mir and race-winning team-mate Alex Rins to find alternative rides. While Mir was soon being linked with Repsol Honda, Rins was the first to sign for HRC, inking a deal to ride for LCR. Mir was subsequently confirmed as taking over from Pol Espargaro at the factory team, where he will seek to become the first team-mate of Marc Marquez to win a MotoGP race since Dani Pedrosa in 2017.Jack Miller leaves Ducati for KTMAfter five years at Ducati, Jack Miller will start a new chapter in his MotoGP career with KTM. The Australian, who has won MotoGP races for both Honda and Ducati, has signed a two-year deal to race the RC16 alongside Brad Binder at the factory Red Bull team. Bastianini wins factory duel with Martin The choice of Miller’s factory Ducati replacement came down to a duel between young guns Enea Bastianini (Gresini) and Jorge Martin (Pramac). Bastianini’s string of race victories on the GP21 ultimately swung the decision in his favour, with Martin remaining at Pramac, where he will continue to receive the latest spec machinery.RNF drops Yamaha for ApriliaFor the first time in the ‘MotoGP’ era, Yamaha will not have a satellite team on the 2023 grid after RNF switched its allegiance to Aprilia. Razlan Razali’s team will also have an all-new rider line-up with Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez arriving from KTM.Morbidelli out of syncThe only factory team with a potential seat now free for the 2024 season is Monster Yamaha, which signed Franco Morbidelli until the end of 2023 when he took over the M1 seat vacated by Maverick Vinales midway through 2021. Yamaha’s World Superbike champion Toprak Razgatlioglu, who briefly tested the MotoGP bike in 2022, could be among those interested in the ride, with manager Kenan Sofuoglu stating that Razgatlioglu will only move to MotoGP with a factory team.Related Brad Binder: Traction, braking, tighter lines, sleepless nights… Remy Gardner fractured wrist without falling, won Moto2 title with broken ribs!
