Albon picks 23 as permanent F1 number

Alexander Albon has selected 23 as his permanent Formula 1 race number ahead of his debut in 2019 with Toro Rosso.
Albon was confirmed in a race seat with Toro Rosso for next year one day after the end of the 2018 season, replacing Brendon Hartley after being freed from his contract to race with Nissan in Formula E.
The Thai driver was listed on the first entry list for the 2019 season by the FIA, albeit without a selected number.
The Toro Rosso website has since been updated to show that Albon will be racing with 23 in F1, marking its first usage since the permanent numbers were introduced in 2014.
It acts as the final confirmed detail for the entry list in 2019, with Albon’s fellow full-season rookies having already confirmed which numbers they would use.
Lando Norris has selected #4 for his McLaren debut, George Russell picked #63 at Williams, and Antonio Giovinazzi will race with #99 for Sauber.
The returning Robert Kubica has also confirmed he will race with #88 at Williams next year.
