Lewis Hamilton has said he feels “like giving up on everything” in a series of social media posts to raise awareness about climate change as he urges his followers to become vegan.The Formula 1 world championship leader, who is on the cusp of securing a sixth world title after finishing in third place at the Japanese Grand Prix, has voiced his opinion on the current climate change discussions on his Instagram in a series of emotive posts.Hamilton, who has been on a plant-based diet since 2017, recently opened his own vegan burger restaurant in London called Neat Burger.The Mercedes driver has also recently sold his private jet in order to cut down his own emissions and has called on people to do more on his Instagram Stories.“Extinction of our race becoming more and more likely as we over use resources,” Hamilton said in one Instagram post.“I’m sad to see so many people, even close friends ignore what is happening daily. Honestly, I feel like giving up on everything. Why bother when the world is such a mess and people don’t seem to care?“Go vegan, it is the only way to truly save our planet today.“I’m sad right now with the thought of where this world is going.”While in Japan, Hamilton also used his social media accounts to promote environmental issues about dolphin hunters in the country.After helping Mercedes clinch its sixth consecutive F1 world constructors’ championship at Suzuka last weekend, Hamilton will hope to wrap up the drivers’ crown at the next race in Mexico. The British driver needs a 14-point swing over teammate Valtteri Bottas to seal the title in Mexico.
