The age distribution of the current truck drivers is accepted as an indicator that the shortage of drivers will increasingly continue in the following years. While two thirds of the truck drivers are over 40 years old, one fifth of these are between the ages of 51 and 60. In a period of ten years, most of the drivers over the age of 50, won’t take place in this business line. Hödlmayr CEO Johannes warned: “If we don’t get more people to learn and practice this profession soon, we are going to face a real fiasco in the medium term.” and stated that measures are necessary to improve the image of the profession for the sector’s experts and drivers that operate at the relevant locations.

Hödlmayr has indicated that it is very wrong to identify a truck driver as an underlaborer and stated that especially in terms of future developments, the keyword is technological transformation. Hödlmayr has indicated that the expectations for driverless trucks will deeply alter the professional profile and said: “Instead of just driving the vehicle, new duties will define their daily working routine.
We should define the new image of truck drivers as highway pilots.”
“Reliability Factor Has Never Been So Important”

Çarıkçı has stated that the latest total for Hödlmayr International AG fleet is 780 exclusive transportation vehicles and said that 99 percent of these vehicles comprise of Euro 5, EEV or Euro 6 trucks.
