Daniil Kvyat will take a grid drop at this weekend’s French Grand Prix after Toro Rosso confirmed it has installed Honda’s latest Formula 1 engine. The Toro Rosso driver is destined for a back-of-the-grid start after moving onto his fourth internal combustion engine of the season at Paul Ricard.Kvyat has picked up a combined grid drop worth 25 places after exceeding his allowance of MGU-H, Energy Store and Control Electronics components. He has also taken on a new Turbocharger, but he is still within his permitted allocation for the year so will not be penalised. It was expected after Honda announced it would bring its second power unit upgrade of 2019 to France, which has been made available to both customer teams Red Bull and Toro Rosso. The Faenza squad has opted to use Honda’s ‘Spec 3’ engine on just one of its cars, with Alexander Albon set to move onto his fourth component – and take the subsequent grid penalty – at an unspecified later date.
