Ferrari completed a clean sweep of practice for the German Grand Prix as Charles Leclerc set the pace in FP3 on Saturday afternoon at Hockenheim, leading from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. After seeing Sebastian Vettel and Leclerc lead FP1 and FP2 respectively on Friday, Ferrari continued its impressive Hockenheim showing despite fears the cooler temperatures after overnight rain would play into the hands of its rivals.Leclerc managed to record a fastest lap time of 1m12.380s to finish 0.168s clear of Verstappen at the head of the timesheets, giving the Monegasque racer a boost heading into qualifying later today.Ferrari teammate Vettel finished third, two-tenths of a second off Leclerc’s time, but was hit twice in the session by lap deletions after an overnight clampdown on track limits cost a number of drivers. The rules state drivers must not let any part of their car pass beyond the blue-and-white kerbing at both Turn 1 and Turn 17, with infringements leading to times being deleted.Lewis Hamilton was hit by this during his first qualifying simulation lap, meaning he could only finish the session sixth for Mercedes with his second timed effort. Teammate Valtteri Bottas took P4, while Kevin Magnussen was a surprise fifth for Haas.Carlos Sainz took seventh place for McLaren ahead of Pierre Gasly, who headed out in his new Red Bull chassis after his FP2 forced the team to make the change, while Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean rounded out the top 10 for Alfa Romeo and Haas respectively.Qualifying for the German Grand Prix begins at 1pm BST on Saturday.
