A private two-day MotoGP test began at Misano in Italy on Thursday morning.

All teams are present, plus some factory test riders.

Rookie star Quartararo, riding for the first time since Sunday’s big accident at Silverstone, was quickest in the morning with a 1m 33.539s.

World champion Marquez then beat that time at the start of the afternoon session, before Quartararo returned to the top with the only 1m 32s lap. Team-mate Morbidelli later made it a Petronas Yamaha one-two on his final lap of the day.

Dovizioso – who also suffered a concussion in the same incident as Quartararo – began testing at 3pm, while Oliveira called a halt after just two laps ‘in order to recover 100% for the upcoming race’ following the collision with Zarco at Silverstone.

Lorenzo also concluded the test early to continue his recovery ahead of the GP on September 13-15 after experiencing some pain during 31 laps this morning.

Suzuki rookie Mir is making his return from injury, while the range of technical developments include updates for Yamaha’s 2020 prototype, first seen at Brno earlier this month.

Michelin has brought the same tyres as for the upcoming San Marino MotoGP, plus a new medium rear and new medium front tyre.

Testing, which concludes on Friday evening, took place from 9:30am to 6pm with a lunch break from 1-2pm…
