British Superbike title runner-up Jake Dixon already looks like one to watch in wet conditions in Moto2 next season, having set the fastest time during a slippery Sunday morning on the final day of the Jerez test.

But, like all the KTM riders, the Englishman is now seeking to match that performance in the dry.

The top KTM at the debut Triumph test was factory rider Brad Binder in 13th (+0.941s), with new Angel Nieto signing Dixon 28th overall on the combined timesheets (+2.624s).

“Finishing top in the rain is really good, but the next target will be to go top in the dry,” confirmed Dixon, who is adapting to a new bike, tyres and team.

“The main thing today was to work on finding a good riding position. We have to improve our corner entry in the dry, because in the wet we have a very good feeling.

“We’ve had a good test, the team have done a good job and I can’t wait to get back on the bike – although now we will have to wait until 2019.”

Team-mate Xavi Cardelus was 31st and last on the timesheets, 3.279s behind test leader Luca Marini (Kalex).

The Angel Nieto Team is returning to the intermediate class for 2019, after selling its MotoGP grid places to the new Sepang Team.
