The Pons Moto2 team has split from Hector Barbera after the former MotoGP rider failed a drink-drive test when stopped by police in Valencia last week.
The Spaniard was subsequently handed a one-year driving ban.
21-year-old Augusto Fernández, who won Sunday’s European Moto2 race at Barcelona, will now return to the same circuit to ride alongside Lorenzo Baldassarri at this weekend’s Catalunya Grand Prix.
Barbera had claimed a best race finish of eleventh this season, compared with one victory and three podiums for Baldassarri.
