Fabio Quartararo will start the final five races of his rookie MotoGP season with a slim six-point advantage over good friend Jack Miller in the fight for top satellite honours. The pair are currently seventh and eighth in the world championship, but Quartararo lost five points to Miller after the Pramac Ducati rider’s podium at Aragon on Sunday. The Frenchman now hopes their battle can go down to the Valencia finale.”We are fighting with Jack to be the top Independent rider,” Quartararo said after the Aragon race. “He’s also one of my favourite people in the world championship, so it will be good to fight with him and let’s see if we can arrive in Valencia for a big battle!”LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow is also a top satellite contender, being 19 points behind Miller.gg768751.jpg accImages.createImage();Quartararo, who has four podiums this season compared to three for Miller, finished three-seconds from the rostrum at Aragon.Like the other Yamahas, the Petronas rider felt selecting the hard-rear tyre may not have been the best choice. Miller, like Andrea Dovizioso and Marc Marquez ahead of him, raced with the soft.”Our pace was good but not as good as Misano of course, so I couldn’t really stay with Jack, Maverick and Dovi,” Quartararo said.”I was struggling a lot on the left corners. We will see what Maverick says also but it looks like the soft was going really well. We see all the Hondas and Ducatis were with the soft and I think it was the best option.”We know this track was not the best for us, apart from a good qualifying, but I’m feeling good because even when we are not in our best shape, we brought a top-five home.”Team-mate Franco Morbidelli was taken out on the opening lap.
