The Red Bull Formula 1 team has once again usurped its own record by setting another world-beating pit stop time during the Brazilian Grand Prix.Red Bull had already surpassed the previous record by clocking a 1.90 pit stop at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, before setting a new benchmark next time out in Germany with a 1.88s stop for Max Verstappen. At Interlagos, Red Bull went one better by servicing Verstappen and fitting four all four Soft tyres in just 1.82s during his opening pit stop in Brazil.Verstappen praised Red Bull’s speedy work in the pit stops as being key to his victory, having twice passed recently-crowned six-time world champion Lewis Hamilton en route to his third win of the season.“The guys did a great job in the pit stops and strategy so I think all that together gave us the victory.“I think the first stop was 1.9 seconds, so that was incredible. Then my out lap: luckily for me Lewis got stuck in the middle sector with Charles.“So I pushed up to them and luckily I could get by Charles into Turn 12 and then I still had the tow and the DRS of Lewis and I was on full power and DRS open and I could get Lewis into Turn 1.”The Dutchman made three stops in total in Brazil, with all three being completed in less than 2.2s, with Red Bull claiming the first, third and fourth-fastest stops during the weekend. As a result, the Milton Keynes squad has now secured the DHL fastest pit stop award for 2019.
