Ricciardo was due to drive on the opening day of testing in Sakhir but was ruled out after McLaren revealed that he was feeling unwell.The Australian was unable to drive again on Friday meaning Lando Norris was in action on the opening two days.McLaren confirmed on Friday that Ricciardo’s condition was improving, and his COVID-19 tests were coming back negative.However, on Friday night, the team released a statement stating that Ricciardo has tested positive and will not be able to drive for the team on Saturday.Related Magnussen sets new benchmark during extra Haas F1 running Hamilton: Ferrari would be 1-2 if F1 Bahrain GP was tomorrowThe good news for Ricciardo is that under Bahrain’s quarantine rules, should he recover, he will be able to compete in the season-opening grand prix at Sakhir.“McLaren Racing can confirm that after feeling unwell from Wednesday onwards in Bahrain, Daniel Ricciardo has now returned a positive PCR test for COVID-19,” the statement read.“Daniel is therefore continuing to isolate in accordance with local regulations.
