Jerez plays host to this weekend’s round four of the MotoGP World Championship, but for Alex Rins, it means a chance to be 100% fit unlike last year in Andalusia. Rins missed the season opener in 2020 after suffering a dislocation-fracture in his right shoulder during qualifying, and although he competed a week later, this will be an opportunity to regain the form around Jerez that he showed in Portimao ten days ago, but also in 2019 when he finished second in the race to Marc Marquez. From a speed point of view and not a results one, the Portuguese Grand Prix last time out was the Suzuki rider’s best race of the year, before he ed whilst attempting to keep pace with the eventual race winner Fabio Quartararo. Rins demonstrated his and the GSR-RR bike’s potential as he was the only rider able to challenge the Frenchman, but tucked the front at turn five.   Speaking ahead of this weekend, Rins said: “It’s so nice to arrive here in Jerez in good shape, last year was very hard with my injury and it’s a great feeling to come back here fully fit. “I’m confident with the way the bike is working at the moment, and this is a circuit that I like a lot. Related ArticlesaccImages.createImage(); Joan Mir: My goal is to be in the top three every race if possibleaccImages.createImage(); Alex Rins: My rivals always overlook me, I don’t know why!”For sure it will be a very intense weekend with a lot of riders being very competitive, but I’m excited to put any bad memories behind me and get a great result.”Rins heads into Sunday’s race currently seventh in the championship – 38 points down on Yamaha’s Quartararo.
