The second and final day of the Official 2022 Sepang MotoGP test is underway in Malaysia.
Aleix Espargaro led an Aprilia 1-2 with team-mate Maverick Vinales on day one, aided by some prior track time at the Shakedown test, with a lap just a few tenths from the all-time unofficial record set by Danilo Petrucci in 2019.
It looked like there was a good chance of seeing MotoGP’s first ever 1m 57s later today, but a rain shower arrived shortly before 2pm, then another at 3pm, and it remains to be seen if the track will dry before 6pm…
The test is the first time that Marc Marquez has ridden a MotoGP bike since winning at Misano last October, after which he was sidelined by a repeat of his 2011 double-vision problems triggered by an enduro training accident.
Testing takes place from 10am to 6pm, followed by practice starts.
The second and final MotoGP pre-season test will be held at Indonesia’s new Mandalika circuit from February 11-13.
