Singapore to remain on F1 calendar until 2028 after signing new deal

Making its debut in 2008, the Marina Bay Street Circuit has been a popular addition to the F1 calendar because of the difficult nature of the track layout and the race taking place under the lights in humid conditions.Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, F1 hasn’t raced in Singapore since 2019 but is expected to return later this year as part of a record-breaking 23-race season.With F1 aiming to be carbon neutral by 2030, F1 confirmed that the Singapore Grand Prix will have a greater emphasis on sustainability in future races with a switch to renewable energy sources and increased recycling efforts.Speaking of the announcement, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “I am delighted that Formula 1 will continue to race in Singapore for another seven years.Related 2021 F1 finale shouldn’t detract from ‘best season for 40 years’ – Horner McLaren fires up MCL36 2022 F1 car for first time “The Marina Bay Street Circuit hosted the first night race in F1 history in 2008, and Singapore has continued to thrill fans, teams, and drivers ever since.
