Single IMU in MotoGP from 2019
From next season, the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) will no longer be exempt from the MotoGP unified ECU system.
It’s a move MotoGP Director of Technology Corrado Cecchinelli has been pursuing ever since the single software arrived in 2016, in order to reduce costs and – more importantly – end the theoretical possibility of teams ‘doping’ the IMU to influence the ECU.
