Austrian Grand Prix victor Max Verstappen has been crowned ‘Driver of the Day’ after Formula 1 confirmed a technical glitch meant Robert Kubica was wrongly declared the winner.Verstappen fought back from a sluggish getaway to charge through the order, passing Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc with three laps to go to claim a historic win for Red Bull and new engine suppliers Honda.Following the race on Sunday, F1 had originally stated that Williams driver Kubica had won the award – which is decided in an online fan vote – but it has since announced that a “technical error” resulted in Kubica being “incorrectly allocated a number of votes”.Kubica finished 20th and last and was lapped three times by Verstappen in Spielberg. After a verification, Verstappen was deemed the winner having scooped 74 percent of the public vote, ahead of Leclerc (11 percent) and Carlos Sainz (7 percent).
