VOLVO TRUCKS INTRODUCES A CUSTOM FIRETRUCK

IGA Air Side Operations Director Ozan Karakış, Volkan İtfaiye General Manager Yaşar Tecim and Temsa İş Makinaları Truck Group Sales Manager Kıvanç Kızılkaya have attended the delivery of the Volvo Trucks vehicles modified for the needs of the İstanbul Airport.

IGA Air Side Operations Director Ozan Karakış has stated that the vehicles were purchased to be used by the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) team – the protector of flight and ground safety at Istanbul Airport- during aircraft, building and facility fires. He said: “Response time for aircraft accidents and fires at airports, is a very important criteria. You are obliged to respond within 3 minutes of receiving the distress call. These vehicles must rapidly reach their maximum speeds and they need to be suitable for terrain conditions because of the high amount of water and fire extinguishing foam carried by the vehicles as well as the fact that events may occur not only on coated surfaces but also on terrain conditions. Accordingly, we preferred Volvo Trucks vehicles as they have successfully met all the conditions.”
In his statement at the delivery ceremony, Volkan İtfaiye General Manager Yaşar Tecim has expressed their satisfaction with Volvo Trucks’ services and support for the trucks prepared for İstanbul Airport and continued: “Safety is crucial for us.
