“We need a win” – Ocon outlines Alpine's ambitions for F1 2021

By signing up to the newsletter you agree to receive emails from that may occasionally include promotional content Leave this field blank Esteban Ocon hopes Alpine can build on the success it enjoyed in 2020 as it looks to build on its fifth place finish in the Formula 1 constructors’ championship. 2021 marks a new era for the Enstone-based outfit with Renault being rebranded as Alpine. The changes don’t stop there with Fernando Alonso returning to Enstone in place of Daniel Ricciardo, while ex-Suzuki MotoGP boss Davide Brivio is Alpine’s new racing director. Under the Renault guise, the team scored three podiums on its way to fifth in the constructors’ championship.Following the launch of the A521, Ocon outlined his and the team’s ambitions for the season ahead.“Yeah that’s fantastic,” Ocon said when reflecting on the team’s 2020 results. “Best place for sure, finish fourth [fifth] for the team means a lot, means we are improving, the car is getting faster, our understanding is getting better, and the joy of the team was there after the race.Related ArticlesaccImages.createImage(); Nissany handed Williams FW43B debut at Bahrain F1 pre-season testaccImages.createImage(); Mercedes has “no doubt” about Hamilton’s F1 commitment“I hope we can repeat it, to get the best result for the team, we need a win – that’s another task. We’ll push to do our best and try and get more podiums but for now let’s see how the car feels.”Ocon added: “We definitiely want to have more of those feelings, that’s for sure.
