Zusammenfassung
Kern der Begründung ist, dass Alonso einen ganz normalen Boxenstopp absolviert habe und es keine Anzeichen dafür gegeben habe, dass etwas schiefgelaufen sei. Der Spanier habe erst in Kurve 3 gemerkt, dass sich etwas komisch anfühle.
Und weil niemand gewusst habe, was los sei, sei es natürlich auch keine unsichere Freigabe gewesen. Eine Strafe hätte es lediglich gegeben, wenn Alonso wissentlich mit einem losen Rad gefahren wäre.
Dafür fanden die Rennkommissare aber keinerlei Anzeichen. 19:08 Uhr
Keine Strafe für Alonso
So schnell kann es dann gehen! Der Spanier darf P10 behalten, weil die Stewards zu dem Schluss kamen, dass es keine unsichere Freigabe von Alpine war. Das komplette (und umfangreiche) Statement im Wortlaut gibt es zunächst einmal hier:
“Alonso made a pit stop at 16:12 during the VSC due to the incident at turn 4. The left front wheel subsequently came loose by a small margin and the Stewards investigated to see if the car was ‘released in an unsafe condition’ which is a potential breach of Article 34.14 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.”
“The Stewards reviewed multiple angles of video of the pit stop, including pit lane CCTV, CCTV from over the pit stop location and in-car footage. There is nothing in the video to indicate that the pit stop was anything other than a normal pit stop, including that the wheel concerned appears to fully engage and become fully tight.”
“The team manager reported that the mechanic fitting the wheel reported that everything felt normal, and indeed his body language on the video appears completely normal. Nothing appears to be wrong until just before turn 3, where the wheel slightly disengages from the car, by a very small amount.”
“Shortly after turn 3 the driver states on the radio that they will need to box again. When asked by the crew the driver simply reported that they needed to box again. In the hearing, the driver stated that he cannot see the rim of the wheel and that all he felt was a small vibration.”
“This is consistent with the video, in that the movement of the tyre was hardly distinguishable. After entering the pit lane, the driver stated ‘check left front.’ In the hearing he stated that it felt worse when he turned to the right than when he turned to the left, but that there was still nothing obvious from his vantage point.”
“After the race, the left front wheel with the tyre and the axel were inspected by the Technical Delegate and the Head of Single Seater Technical Affairs. They reported to the Stewards that the damage to the wheel and axel is consistent with a parts failure in all likelihood subsequent to the exit of the car from the pits.”
“Based on the footage of the car from the moment the wheel was fitted, until the failure became apparent, the Stewards conclude that the wheel was fully fitted, and that subsequent to the failure, all the retention systems worked as designed.”
“The Stewards therefore conclude that the car was not released in an unsafe condition and take no further action.” 18:58 Uhr
Eine Untersuchung …
… läuft ja auch noch gegen Alonso. Das wollen wir nicht vergessen! Da geht es noch um den letzten WM-Punkt. Und mein Gefühl sagt mir, dass eine sportliche Strafe da wahrscheinlicher ist, falls es von Alpine wirklich eine unsichere Freigabe war.
Die Vermutung ist, dass eines der Räder nicht richtig fest war und er deswegen nach einer Runde direkt noch einmal zum Service kam. Und bei solchen Dingen – falls es wirklich so war – versteht die FIA in der Regel keinen Spaß.
Auch das haben wir natürlich noch im Hinterkopf und im Blick!

Verstappen: Dreimal von Leclerc überholt
In der Zwischenzeit erst einmal etwas “leichtere Kost”: Dreimal im Rennen vom gleichen Fahrer überholt. Das passiert Verstappen auch nicht so oft! Leclerc knackte ihn zunächst in Runde 11, noch einmal in Runde 33 und dann ein letztes und entscheidendes Mal in Runde 53.

Hintergrund
So, jetzt also erst einmal ganz in Ruhe. Offenbar geht es darum, dass alle drei Fahrer im Parc Ferme vor dem Wiegen mit ihren Physios interagiert haben. Das ist eigentlich nicht erlaubt – und offenbar nicht zum ersten Mal vorgekommen.
Gut möglich also, dass die FIA dem jetzt mal einen Riegel vorschieben möchte. Eine sportliche Strafe scheint da aber eher unwahrscheinlich zu sein. Vermutlich eher eine Geldstrafe oder ähnliches.

Leclerc muss zu den Stewards!
Gerade bekommen wir die Mitteilung, dass Sieger Leclerc zu den Rennkommissaren muss! Offenbar ein Parc-Ferme-Verstoß. Mehr gleich! 18:27 Uhr
Russell: Konnte Perez nicht mehr ausweichen
Wenig überraschend hat er zum Unfall mit Perez eine etwas andere Meinung als der Mexikaner. “Ich habe mir das Video angesehen und finde es hart”, sagt er im Hinblick auf seine Strafe. Denn das Manöver von Perez sei “mutig” gewesen.
Und ihm sei letztendlich einfach der Platz ausgegangen. Zwar entschuldigt er sich bei Perez für den Unfall. Er betont er aber auch: “Ich hätte nichts mehr tun können. Ich habe so hart ich konnte gebremst und eingelenkt.”
Zu allem Überfluss wurde dabei auch noch sein eigenes Auto beschädigt. “Ich habe durch den Schaden eine Menge Rundenzeit verloren, ungefähr eine Sekunde pro Runde”, berichtet er. Dazu kam dann auch noch die Strafe.
